Box Elder . SD   |   Phased Project  

The 9,500 sq ft SD DOT Rapid City building was designed to accommodate the DOT’s bridge and paint crew trucks and staff. The new DOT shop is located in the middle of the existing DOT campus and was designed to have the exterior materials match the exterior materials of the other shops on the campus. The main shop area is big enough to house both crews, nine trucks and materials. The crew/office area includes a ADA-compliant rest room, three private offices, and individual crew areas for both paint and bridge crews. The shop area includes in-floor heating and exhaust systems. Crew/ office area has a split system that will provide the ability to provide some zone control and diversity. Linear fluorescent and exterior LED light fixtures have been selected for their efficiency usage of energy. A fire sprinkler system has been installed throughout the entire shop.
