The multi-purpose Founder’s Park Pavilion rest room building is an inviting addition for the people of Rapid City. The building can be used for many purposes, but most importantly as ADA accessible public rest room with three stalls for both men and women, with an additional family rest room. The main rest rooms are designed to be shut down during the winter to cut down on maintenance and vandalism, with the family rest room conveniently open throughout the entire year.

This building is environmentally friendly. Light panels let in enormous amounts of natural light from the two long sides of the building. With a low-flow, vandal- resistant lavatory system and water closets, the rest room’s life cycle costs is minimized. Occupancy sensors save on energy. The walls for the partitions are vandal and graffiti resistant concrete block. The exterior materials were chosen from an existing palette of the Rapid City area to reflect a composite of the traditional and contemporary existing architecture.
